math and science back to bahasa malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: The Government has decided to reverse the Teaching of Mathematics and Science in English policy and revert to Bahasa Malaysia in national schools and Chinese and Tamil in vernacular schools.

More emphasis would also be placed on English, including the hiring of retired teachers, assistant teachers for bigger classes and having additional periods.

reverting math and science back to bahasa malaysia? in my opinion, i think it's not a good move. it's not that i don't support our national language. it's just that how are we going to compete with others in years to come?

the kids don't do good in school because they can't grasp english. imagine when they are older, it's even worst. better that they get to improve now that having trouble later.

everything is in english in for private tertiary education, not all for public tertiary education though. so, we may have the qualification but if we still can't deal with english in life, we are not going anywhere!

having additional periods in school?! that's madness. i think kids from smk aminuddin baki is going to say NO to this. i was from there. i'm proud to be from there. however, we finished classes at 2pm. with activities from 2.30pm so if the additional periods does exists, what time left do we have for homework? it's total madness!

if many of you are happy that it's all back to bahasa malaysia now, think again. think maybe a few years down the road. or maybe even more.

if you don't get a job, should you be blaming the government as they reverted things back to bahasa malaysia or should you be blaming yourself for wanting the change which the government did for your benefit at that point of time.

i still feel it's better in english. at least you won't have to do double work to re-study the same thing all over again in english when you are in college/university.

hmmm... might as well teach english in bahasa malaysia then. isn't that what you all wanted?

entah la. sometimes it's not fully the leaders fault. it's the people who wants this and that. and when it doesn't work out, they blame the leaders. ah..

IMO, go dwibahasa, with slow progression towards full english in the teaching of maths and science.
